“Gym, Tan, Laundry” in New World Writing Quarterly

I’m thrilled and honored that New World Writing accepted my story, “Gym, Tan, Laundry.” Editor and publisher Frederick Barthelme, aside from being a fellow art rock refugee as a founding member of Red Krayola, is a major source of inspo and responsible for what folks call Kmart realism, a.k.a “low-rent tragedies." A type of minimalism “found in American short fiction that became popular in the 1980s.” All three Barthleme brothers (Donald most famously) are seminal figures in American arts and letters and I encourage anyone not already familiar to throw a dart and start reading.
